Moscow-Sana

The Russian presidency has again warned against turning Afghanistan into a haven for terrorists and their groups after the Taliban movement took control of it following the withdrawal of the United States of America and NATO forces from it.

“It is important for Russia that Afghanistan does not become a haven for a large number of terrorist groups,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in a televised statement today on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Russia, pointing out that what happened 20 years ago should not be allowed to happen again. years in Afghanistan.

Peskov revealed that his country had taken strict measures to curb drug smuggling from Afghanistan to Russia, indicating that his country was waiting for the Taliban to take concrete steps.

Peskov also indicated the readiness of Russian President Vladimir Putin to participate tomorrow in the World Eastern Economic Forum to talk about the situation in Afghanistan.

The Russian President had confirmed yesterday that the presence of the United States in Afghanistan for 20 years has only led to many tragedies and losses.

Peskov also warned of the dangers of the United States providing military "aid" to Ukraine.

"We have drawn attention to plans to provide US military assistance to Ukraine and believe that this may be a reason for unexpected actions on the Ukrainian side in terms of attempts to forcibly resolve the internal Ukrainian conflict in the southeast," he said.

"We have not heard or seen any wishes from Washington addressed to the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, regarding the implementation of the Minsk agreements: we have not seen a single word on this," Peskov added.

Russia has consistently called on the United States to take a more responsible approach to tensions over Ukraine.
