The city of Unterschleißheim must again pump a hefty amount into the permanent construction site.

Unterschleißheim

- The breakdown series does not stop.

After a series of construction defects at the Ballhaus-Forum in Unterschleißheim, it has been the turn of the roof of the simple hall since August.

A fungus, which counts wooden ceiling tiles as a favorite dish, has eaten up to seven centimeters into the roof.

When it rains, the water also builds up.

The town hall is injecting another 280,000 euros.

Three years ago, it wasn't just the caretaker who noticed that the roof was leaking.

Rainwater occasionally trickles into the hall.

How the roofer, who was active at the time, was allowed to go over the summer is indicative of the dilemma with the BalhausForum.

After the roof had been cleared and the greenery had been completely removed, the roofing company dealt with the sealing film.

Damaged areas were searched for and removed.

Only a little later, however, the caretaker noticed that it was still trickling into the hall.

So back up on the roof.

As it turned out, the roofer had overlooked one or the other leak, the town hall announced.

"There were always incidents"

It is of course not the first time that the city council has had to make money for repairs on the permanent construction site. After almost doubling the renovation amount calculated in the spring to 900,000 euros without comment, Brigitte Weinzierl (CSU) in the holiday committee could not avoid expressing her amazement. For years the town hall had been informed that the simple hall was susceptible to rain. "There were always incidents," reminded the speaker for environmental protection and traffic. It is simply regrettable that there was no earlier response. Weinzierl "The damage could have been kept within limits."

Mayor Christoph Böck has horror written on his face: "When you hear from specialist companies what was done wrong ..." Except that the roofer probably missed a few holes in the sealing film, the "unfavorable roof symmetry" turns out to be Problem.

There is no gradient to the processes.

Water accumulates as soon as it rains.

A voracious fungus is also a problem for the renovators.

The critters apparently eat their way through the ceiling tiles like a load of worms.

Moisture makes the fungus hungry.

A never-ending story of shortcomings

In the past, the sports and congress center was infested with mold.

The difficulties with the roof are delaying the completion of the work.

The hall should have reopened in mid-September.

Now it will last at least until the third week of October.

In 2005, the Ballhaus Forum for social and sporting events was built as a prestige property for 25 million euros.

Since then, the multifunctional center has remained in the status of a construction site.

From the rusted ventilation system to the radiant heater that threatened to fall from the ceiling to the sprinkler system installed the wrong way round.

Now the roof is leaking too.

The city council bears the additionally required 280,000 euros as a burden in the upcoming deliberations of an already Corona-savvy household.
