Over 200 apprentices will start their training in the Ebersberg district in September; over 277 positions are vacant.

Many companies have given up the active search for trainees

District - At the beginning of September, 239 young people in the Ebersberg district begin training in IHK professions. According to the preliminary statistics at the beginning of the training year, the number of training contracts concluded is 12 percent less than in the previous year, as reported by the Chamber of Commerce for Munich and Upper Bavaria.

"The Corona damper from the previous year can also be felt in this training year. In view of the increasing shortage of skilled workers, our companies are focusing more than ever on training their youngsters themselves. The willingness to train is huge and unbroken ”, says Sonja Ziegltrum-Teubner, chairwoman of the IHK regional committee Ebersberg.

“The biggest problem for many companies is still the lack of applicants.” According to the latest statistics from the employment agency, 277 apprenticeship positions are still vacant in the district.

There are 85 unsupported apprenticeship applicants for this offer.

In purely arithmetical terms, there are more than three apprenticeship positions for every unsupported applicant in the Ebersberg district.

“In the next few years, the gap between applicants on the training market will widen even further.

2.8 million workers in Bavaria will retire by 2030.

In the same period, however, there will only be 1.5 million school leavers as potential young skilled workers for these vacancies, ”says IHK regional committee chairman Ziegltrum-Teubner.

As in the previous year, the corona pandemic also made it difficult for almost all career orientation measures. Trial internships, training fairs and personal application interviews could often not take place at all or only to a very limited extent. The important application phase in spring also suffered from the extraordinary circumstances. The bottom line is that the number of applicants for training in the district has fallen slightly by 0.5 percent compared to the previous year, according to data from the employment agency.

“We are still relying on a catch-up effect until the end of the year.

School leavers who have not been taken care of and who are undecided still have every chance of finding a suitable training position, ”says Ziegltrum-Teubner optimistically.

"This year, too, our declared goal remains that every school leaver willing to train gets an apprenticeship position."

The chairman made it clear: “After numerous apprenticeship positions in the region had remained vacant last year, some companies have given up the active search for trainees.

For the industries that are still affected by Corona restrictions, such as gastronomy, tourism and the event industry, the perspective is very difficult anyway.

Even those who offer apprenticeships sometimes have great problems finding applicants there, ”says Ziegltrum-Teubner.

The top 5 IHK apprenticeships:

Wholesale and foreign trade management clerks (specializing in wholesale), retail clerks, sales assistants, office management clerks and mechatronics technicians.

There are a total of almost 60 different IHK occupations in the district in which young people are currently completing their training.

201 companies belonging to the IHK are currently training in the district.

They represent around 60 percent of all apprenticeships.

Vacant apprenticeship positions with an immediate start of training can still be found at www.ihk-lehrstellenboerse.de.
