At the elementary and middle school in Schongau, things are now making rapid progress when it comes to room fans.

The order is in progress.

For junior high school, high school and vocational school, a decision is made on the device type at the end of September.

Schongau

- Long discussions had taken place before the summer holidays in the building committee, the city council and the school committee of the middle school association in terms of health protection due to Corona.

The route to be followed for the ventilation systems for the schools required by the Free State was ultimately given by Mayor Falk Sluyterman: All Schongau children should be treated equally, regardless of whether they are attending kindergarten or middle school.

The city always looked towards the district

Not all institutions and schools are responsible for material expenses, which is why the city always squinted in the direction of the district.

Ultimately, it was agreed to have all the rooms of the daycare centers as well as the elementary and middle school inspected.

The result of the on-site visit is now available, as city architect Sebastian Dietrich explains when asked by Schongauer Nachrichten.

The appraiser made a recommendation.

"In most of the rooms, ventilation is possible, the number of room ventilation systems required is manageable," said the city architect, reporting the result.

There are four fans for the primary school, six for the middle school, everything fits in the daycare centers

In the primary school, three rooms were identified that are rather difficult to ventilate; a total of four mobile systems will be installed there.

In the middle school, six rooms will be equipped with one device each.

"According to the expert's assessment, all group and day-care centers in the city's day-care centers can be adequately ventilated using free ventilation - window ventilation," said Dietrich.

This means that you can act quickly with the municipal facilities in Schongau.

Because it is not a very large amount - the state subsidizes 1750 euros per room - there is no need for a Europe-wide tender, explained Dietrich.

In addition, one already has a certain type of device in mind: The system is to be purchased that was set up a long time ago in a room in the middle school and with which one has had good experiences so far.

This procedure had also already been discussed in the city council.

“The device is quite large, but it runs very quietly and complies with all limit values,” explains Dietrich.

In total, the city of Schongau expects the elementary school to spend around 13,000 euros, while the middle school is expected to generate around 20,000 euros - minus funding.

The devices are already being ordered.

Ventilation is still necessary

Dietrich assumes that these will probably not be available at the beginning of the school year, but perhaps with the start of the cold season.

“However, ventilation will still be necessary,” he said again.

In a second step, the old primary school building will be equipped with a large room air system.

This too had already been decided.

Dietrich estimates that ten to twelve rooms would still be missing.

The funding could run through the same procedure of the federal government as in the market town of Peiting (see page 5).

The funding application has not yet been submitted.

A complete room air system is also planned for the middle school, which is due to be refurbished.

Further devices for high school, secondary school and vocational school

In the district they also pushed the tube properly. The district committee recently voted on the procurement of room air devices (we reported). As district treasurer Norbert Merk confirms on SN request, the Europe-wide tender is already running. According to an initial assessment after the inspection by the specialist company, 18 devices are required for the Schongau grammar school, 13 for the Schongau secondary school and six for the Schongau vocational school. For the grammar school one has calculated with a sum of 23,200 euros and for the secondary school with 20,300 euros. According to this initial assessment, around 8,700 euros will be added for the vocational school.

But these are only the preliminary figures, both in terms of the number of devices and the costs, emphasizes Merk.

It depends on the device type selected by the district.

The final decision should then be made in the district committee meeting on September 27th.

In total, the district has to purchase an estimated 250 devices, which could result in gross costs of around one million euros.
