From September 14th it will be that time again: School will begin and there will be numerous school buses on the streets again.
Among them was the first fully electronic school bus in the Weilheim-Schongau district.
District
bus operator Anton Oppenrieder from Eberfing is proud of his latest investment: an eVito from Mercedes in dark blue. Oppenrieder leased the e-minibus from the MedeleSchäfer car dealership. Under the motto “climate-friendly to school”, up to eight students can be transported at the same time.
The company wants to set a good example with its e-school bus.
“We just have to start doing something about climate change,” says Oppenrieder.
His initiative is also intended to encourage the municipalities in the Lankreis to further expand the e-charging infrastructure.
Because many places do not yet have a charging station.
Driving a car can then quickly become a logistical challenge.
Where can I charge my car?
And how long does it take?
"Politics and business must pull together on this point," says Oppenrieder.
The electricity for the car comes from your own PV system
He will feed the new school bus with electricity from his own PV system or connect it to the charging station in Eberfing.
Charging there takes around four hours.
With a fully charged battery, you can then drive around 400 kilometers.
Richard Winkler from the MedeleSchäfer dealership explains: “We have to rethink e-cars.
Parking has to mean charging at the same time, otherwise it will be difficult. ”On Wednesday afternoon, in the presence of numerous guests, he presented Oppenrieder and his son Thomas with the keys for the new e-vehicle.
Veronika Schnellhorn, advisor for mobility and climate protection in the district, was also there.
She is enthusiastic about the idea of electric driving: "It's great that there are entrepreneurs like Oppenrieder who are pulling along."
