The SMG is using the restart of the business reception after the corona-related compulsory break in 2020 to introduce a new format.

The managing director explains why in an interview.

District

- A business reception in the first year of a pandemic that posed great, sometimes existential, challenges for many companies: That would not have been right, believes the Miesbach district marketing company (SMG).

Therefore, the event organized for the first time in 2009 around the award of the 2020 Business Prize was canceled without replacement.

This year the reception is to experience its new edition with an elegant gala evening - and that too in a new guise.

What visitors can look forward to and why you don't even have to be there in the Waitzinger Keller on Tuesday, October 26th at 6.30 p.m., explains SMG Managing Director Alexander Schmid.

Mr. Schmid, according to the announcement, the business reception 2021 will take place “in any case”.

What makes you so sure that the pandemic won't thwart your plans as it did last year?

Alexander Schmid:

First and foremost, our new, hybrid format.

For the first time in its history we will broadcast the business reception live on the Internet.

So we are independent of possible and also very probable limits on the number of visitors in the Waitzinger Keller.

On top of that, we are opening the event to the general public, which we have not been able to reach in the past.

Incidentally, this is something that we had planned before Corona.

Why?

Alexander Schmid:

Because over the past few years we have felt that, above all, the mutual and cross-sector exchange is one of the great strengths of the business reception.

We want to use this impulse character and transform it into something permanent.

That is why the live stream will also be available after the event - garnished with additional content.

Ultimately, we want to create a kind of platform.

On topics that go far beyond traditional economic thinking.

In what way?

Alexander Schmid:

Global challenges such as climate change or the Corona crisis have shown what a large part the economy plays in all of these areas.

Companies are influenced by these problems, but they can also make a significant contribution to solving them.

We want to focus on this at this year's business reception - especially when it comes to the awarding of the honorary prize.

“Using the crisis intelligently”: Business development agency on perspectives for the Miesbach district

Wasn't that previously called the business award?

Alexander Schmid:

Yes.

Due to the pandemic, however, we have not submitted an advertisement this year.

The companies did not apply to us, but rather the SMG Supervisory Board went in search of a prize winner.

The decisive criterion should be special commitment.

Deliberately a very broad focus, which coincides well with the thematic priorities of sustainability and climate change.

And in the future, too, we want to include the people behind regional and social projects at the business reception.

Is the name "Wirtschaftsempfang" still up to date?

Alexander Schmid:

I think so.

A region consists of all the people who live and work in it.

And last but not least, these are entrepreneurs who courageously advance in order to shape the future together.

To honor and bring them together is our mission.
