The missile exploded during the night over the sea and therefore no warning was activated • Residents of the center located shrapnel this morning

Tensions in the north:

An hour after the IDF confirmed that a surface-to-surface missile was launched during the night (Thursday-Friday) from Syrian territory into Israeli territory and exploded over the sea, it became clear that the missile shrapnel fell a long distance from the sea and hit southeast Kfar Shalem.

Eran, a resident of the neighborhood, told "Israel Today": "I woke up at night from a big explosion, because there was no alarm. I was sure it was a car explosion and I went back to sleep. Only in the morning did friends from the neighborhood tell me that they found shrapnel near their house."

Eran added: "It is a disgrace that a missile passes through all of Israel, falls in the middle of a settled neighbor and even has no alarm, what would have happened if it had fallen on a house?"

Another Tel Aviv resident said that "this is a strange incident, it sounds as if Tel Aviv was shot at and no one activated warnings or defense systems. For a shrapnel to reach Tel Aviv it has to fly at angles and cross the whole country."

"No one believes that the missile was not fired at Tel Aviv," said another resident of the Shalem neighborhood, who said that all the residents had been told not to approach the public park after the remains of the missile were found there.

In addition, Tel Aviv police officers took the item and the residents were asked to remain vigilant and in case further details were discovered, report to the authorities and do not touch the object.

In Holon, too, they heard the echoes of the explosion, Omar Cohen, who was on the roof of a building in Holon at the time of the incident, thought it was fireworks: "I was with friends, we heard the explosion and looked where it came from, but when there was no alarm we thought it was fireworks. These are supersonic booms, but it sounds strange to us because we did not see fighter jets in the sky. "

Earlier, the IDF said that the warning was not activated because the missile exploded over the sea, but the IDF will investigate whether it should have been activated anyway.

As mentioned, this morning the residents of the center located a number of fragments of the missile on the ground and they were collected by the police. "

The anti-aircraft missile exploded over the Mediterranean Sea, west of the shoreline at high altitude. The type of missile is usually fired at fighter jets and its fragments can reach tens or hundreds of kilometers.

Since it is at night and from a great height, the explosion sounds very loud.

As you may recall, two weeks ago the IDF confirmed that an anti-aircraft missile fired from Syria exploded over Israeli territory and the shrapnel was scattered in the south of the country.

The missile exploded over the Judean Desert and the Dead Sea area and the possibility is being investigated that parts of it also fell in the territory of Jordan.
