Prof. Uriel Reichman, President of the University of Reichman, yesterday ended his position as President of the Academic Institute in a solemn ceremony at the Institute.
About two weeks ago, the Interdisciplinary Center received approval from the Council for Higher Education to become a university, and it is now changing its name to "Reichman University."
Reichman spoke at a festive farewell event held last night on the IDC campus, attended by members and faculty members, donors and friends, and alumni and graduates of the institution.
Among those present were Dr. Miriam Adelson, publisher of "Israel Today," and Minister of Construction and Housing Zeev Elkin.
At the event, Reichman said: "I fulfilled the mission I undertook in establishing the IDC. Contrary to popular belief, we did not ask for or receive any financial support from the state or its institutions. Than to name the institution after me. "
Reichman concluded: "The Interdisciplinary Center was launched as a Zionist university, hence our educational concept, which is expressed in the words 'freedom and responsibility'. We educate students to be entrepreneurs and not to succumb to the status quo."
