The consultation for the revocation of the mandate, an emblematic initiative of the López Obrador Administration, has taken a step forward.
Early this Friday, the senators approved - with 101 votes in favor and two against - the Federal Mandate Revocation Law.
The discussion focused on the wording of the question from which the citizens will be consulted on the continuity of the Executive.
The endorsement of the Mexican Senate was obtained after the Morena bench agreed to change the formulation of this questioning that will take place in March of the following year.

"Political parties may promote citizen participation in the process of revocation of mandate and will refrain from applying the resources derived from public financing and private financing to carry out their permanent ordinary activities or their activities aimed at obtaining the vote with the purpose of influencing the preferences of citizens ”, indicates the adhesion agreed by Morena and the opposition.
The endorsing opinion in the Senate establishes that the National Electoral Institute (INE) will install 100% of the polls that in the electoral process prior to the consultation and that the dissemination of this will begin the day after the issuance of the call and that the Final calculation and the issuance of the declaration of results will no longer be the responsibility of the Electoral Tribunal, but of the electoral referee.
In the plenary session of the Senate, the PRI legislator, Claudia Ruíz Massieu, assured that it was possible to reverse "a malicious question", which did not refer to the loss of trust, or worse, reversed the sense of the mechanism, by configuring a ratification, rather than revocation, which, according to her, was inadmissible. While the coordinator of Morena in the Senate, Ricardo Monreal, affirmed that by giving in his initial proposals to reach a consensus his party in a sensible and prudent way. "We want this exercise to revoke the mandate to be exemplary, given that it will be an unprecedented exercise in the history of Mexico, we want all of us to applaud it," he added. The law was sent to the Chamber of Deputies for analysis.
Despite the confrontation that took place in recent weeks on the issue, President López Obrador celebrated the endorsement of the Senate.
The president added that the consultation for the revocation of his mandate is an opportunity for the opposition to regroup and make him leave office by popular vote.
