Oscar de la Hoya's comeback to the ring was canceled after the 48-year-old American was hospitalized after being found positive for Corona.
De la Hoya, a six-time world champion, was due to return to meet Vitor Belfort 13 years after he retired, but in a video from the hospital bed he announced what had happened;
"I kept to myself so much and it sucks very, very much" said de la Hoya, who confirmed that he had received all the vaccines;
"I have devoted the last few months to this battle and I thank everyone for their support."
