Avigdor Kahalani, the 77-year-old Israeli hero, was hospitalized last month at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv, following a deterioration in his health after suffering from an infection.

In an interview with Ben Caspit and Aryeh Eldad on 103FM, he describes the difficult days he went through in the hospital bed: "The suffering I went through is the hardest in the world, I did not think there was such a thing."



"I thought my pain was from three disc herniations in my back. The pain was such that the arm and leg could not be moved," he described.

"It turns out that the bacterium entered the blood vessels and settled on the spine. This caused it to paralyze the whole body."



Kahalani praised the team of doctors who treated him at the hospital.

"If we did not have all the medical people there would be no chance of dealing with this bacterium. People who deserve all the praise. Just flatter these people and do not forget them."

Kahalani is married and the father of three children, and lives in Ness Ziona, where he was born.

He served in the Armored Corps and participated in the various Israeli wars.

Last Thursday he was released from the hospital.

"I have been at home for two days, we have set up a field hospital here. I am being treated with antibiotics by infusion for 24 hours," he said.



Kahalani, a former IDF brigadier general and politician, is the Medal of Heroism, the Masterpiece and President for his fighting in the Yom Kippur and Six Day Wars, as well as for his contribution to the country. The Securityists "calling for the annexation of Judea and Samaria.

During the Six Day War, he fought in northern Sinai and was severely wounded, with burns on about 60% of his body, was hospitalized for about a year, and underwent 12 plastic surgeries.

Upon his release from the IDF, Kahalani was appointed chairman of the Amal school network, and was also chairman of Friends of the Levi Foundation and chairman of the Armored Corps Memorial Committee. Yemen, which began in 1992.



Kahalani served as the head of the Social Security Division in the Ministry of Defense and as the chairman of the Association for the Soldier.

In 2014 he even announced his intention to run in the presidential race, but eventually decided not to run.
