The family of Chaya Freiman, the 86-year-old woman who died and was buried without her family's knowledge, will submit a request for an autopsy tomorrow (Monday) in the Magistrate's Court in Be'er Sheva.

Freiman died in a nursing home, the "Veterans" nursing center in Bnei Brak, but due to a mistake in identification, she was considered another woman, and she was buried in the cemetery in Be'er Sheva under a different name.

Although her death has already been determined, at the same time it was reported to her family from the nursing home that although she was verified with Corona, she is alive and feeling well.

The unfortunate mistake was discovered during the preparation of a holiday gift for the elderly staying in the nursing home.

During the preparations, the tenants were asked to submit personal photographs - and thus noticed that the photo sent in the name of Chaya Freiman did not match the identity of the living woman they thought was Chaya Freiman, but another woman who had already died a few days earlier and was even buried.

The woman who was alive who was mistaken for Freeman is Sophia Ginzburg.

Because the woman who died was confirmed positive for Corona, she was not identified by a family member.

According to the existing practice, the identification of corona victims was based solely on a report from the geriatric institution.

Just today, after the tragedy, Dr. Irit Lexer, head of the geriatrics department, changed the procedure and added that a family member must identify the deceased before burial.

The woman, Chaya Freiman, has been living in the nursing home in Ashkelon for two years, and was found positive for Corona on Wednesday about two weeks ago.

As a result, she was transferred after two days to the "Veterans" nursing home in Bnei Brak.

During the week her daughter contacted the nursing home to make sure everything was fine with her mother, and was told that everything was fine and that she was feeling well, even though she was no longer alive.

Last Thursday, her daughter received a phone call from the social worker of the nursing home in Ashkelon, in which she learned that her mother had died.
