Sarah Harding, one of the singers of the British girl band, has died after battling a serious illness

Sad news from the UK: After a hard and painful battle with breast cancer, Sarah Harding, a member of the girls band Girls Elaud, has passed away.

Harding's mother confirmed her death this morning (Sunday) in a post on her daughter's Instagram page and wrote: "I am heartbroken to share the sad news that my beautiful daughter Sarah has passed away. Many of you knew about Sarah's battle with cancer and how much she fought it from the moment she was diagnosed. "The last one. She eluded us peacefully this morning. I want to thank everyone for their kind support over the past year. It was all for Sarah and it provided her with a lot of strength and comfort to know she was loved."

In August 2020, the star revealed that she is battling breast cancer that has spread to other areas of her body as well.

Earlier this year, an excerpt from the autobiographical book written by Harding Hear Me Out was revealed in the Times, in which she told about the diagnosis she received in December 2020 when her doctor informed her that she would probably not be able to celebrate next Christmas.

Sarah revealed that she then asked not to get an accurate diagnosis of the disease, but only to live what was left for her as comfortably as possible and without pain.

About the discovery of the lump in her breast that led to the diagnosis she told in her autobiography.

"I play a lot on my guitar and I thought at first that maybe her strap created a stimulus in the area around the chest," she said.

Harding soon realized that this was more than just a feeling of discomfort and after the tragic diagnosis she also underwent difficult chemotherapy treatments and resection.

"I could not look at myself in the mirror. I could not accept it," she said of her dealing with her body after her last mastectomy.

"In addition to all I did not look the same, I did not recognize myself. It was hard to wake up every morning and know that part of me did not exist. This lack broke my heart."

Upon learning of her death, many in the entertainment world rushed to the networks to pay their last respects to her.

"Rest in peace," tweeted Jerry Horner (Spice Girls).

"The world will remember you for the great light you have spread."

Girls Aloud was a British girl band formed in 2002 as part of the reality show Popstsrs: The Rivals, whose members were Cheryl Cole, Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding and Kimberly Walsh, and are considered one of the most successful British girl bands of the 21st century.

Harding entered a rehab facility in 2011 to treat alcohol addiction and depression. In 2013 the band finally disbanded and Harding turned to developing a solo career in acting and singing and in 2017 won the British version of "Big Brother".
