Four people, including a three-month-old baby and his mother, were killed Sunday in a shooting in Polk County, west central Florida, when a former United States Marine, who claimed to be "a survivor," fired at several homes, authorities reported.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told a news conference that the suspect, who was arrested after being injured in the confrontation with authorities, was dressed in camouflage, with a bulletproof vest, and said he had gone for a "shooting ”.

Grady stressed that there is "zero connection between the murderer and the victims" and that the assailant was high on methamphetamine.
The attack occurred early Sunday morning when the suspect, identified as Bryan Riley, 33, fired at several houses on the same street in the city of Lakeland, the sheriff said.
In the event, a 33-year-old mother and her three-month-old baby died while she was holding him in her arms, and an 11-year-old girl who is being treated at the Tampa General hospital was also injured with multiple shots, according to authorities.
The 66-year-old grandmother of the baby died in another neighboring apartment, the sheriff explained, who said that "as if it were not enough evil" he also killed a dog.
