Miesbach

- Usually, Saturday afternoons in Miesbach feel like Sundays because the sidewalks are folded up by 2 p.m. at the latest.

Not so last Saturday.

The city, retailers and restaurateurs once again invited people to the long Saturday of shopping - and hit the bull's eye: "We are super satisfied," enthuses Max Kalup, Head of City Marketing.

"The restaurateurs were delighted, and the retailers have rarely had such a good day."

However, not all shops took part: Betten Thoba at the train station and Ernsting's family near the parish church, for example, closed regularly. “In contrast to the small shops where the owner can serve the customers alone, they don't have the staff to cope with a long Saturday,” explains Kalup. It didn't really get going until late afternoon anyway - at the beginning the number of strollers was manageable. “The weather was almost too good.” For this, some shops still had customers at 6.30pm. In the open-air bar in front of the market café, cocktails were still over the counter at 10 p.m. - and the bouncy castle was bustling in the evening like an anthill.

The day gained a special charm through the decentralized actions with which the marketplace was straightened out.

So models - dressed in the fashion of Miesbacher shops - strolled to the ice cream parlor on the town square instead of walking down a catwalk.

The three music groups also played on the remote Marienplatz - and everywhere there were flower decorations and street chalk pictures by the street worker Sandro Thomas and the artist Agnes Wieser.
