On the eve of Rosh Hashanah 5752, there are about 9,391 million people in Israel, according to data published today (Sunday) by the Central Bureau of Statistics, which is published. Million at the end of 2048 and 20 million at the end of 2065.
74% of the country's residents are Jews, about 6.94 million, compared to nearly two million Arabs, who constitute 21% of the population.
The remaining 5% consists of the rest of the population in the country, numbering about 466,000 people.
During the past year, the population of the country increased by 146,000, when 172,000 babies were born in Israel and an additional 20,000 immigrated.

Against the background of the corona epidemic, life expectancy in Israel was shortened by an average of five months among men to 80.7 years, and by one month for women, to 84.8 years. 86% of those aged 20 and over estimated that their health was good or very good.
In the background of the epidemic, national health spending rose by about 10% to NIS 118.1 billion, an increase that went to government spending to fight the Corona. The data also show that in Israel there are 1.8 hospital beds per 1,000 residents.
Despite the corona, in the past year there has been an increase in the proportion of citizens who express satisfaction with life and the economic situation in Israel. 90.3% of Israelis were satisfied with their lives, an increase of one and a half percent, and among the Jews there was a higher satisfaction of 92.4%, and among the Arabs only 80.6 %%. Only 65.8% are satisfied with their financial situation, but even that is an increase of more than three percent, a surprising figure considering that we have gone through a year with closures and restrictions. It should be noted that among the Arabs, only 45.5% of the economic situation was satisfied.
Following the government's assistance in closures, 88.7% of the businesses opened in 2019 also survived in 2020, when about 38,200 businesses were closed this year, compared with about 44,900 in 2019. The CBS data also show that only about 30% of Israeli citizens were dissatisfied. From the balance between the time they devote to work and the time to other areas of life, an impressive decrease of 8%, possibly due in part to the fact that many Israelis were in the IDF without the need to look for work.

The data show that in the school year that opened last week, there are expected to be about 2,349 students in the education system - 48,000 more than last year.
The number of teaching staff has increased by 3,000 to 190,000, but only 57% of them work full time.
Data from the Central Bureau of Statistics also show that in 2020, about 287,000 criminal cases were opened, a decrease of about 4% compared to 300,000 opened in 2019.
43% of the cases were opened for offenses against public order, 38% for property offenses and 20% for offenses against another person.
Government expenditure on maintaining public order in 2020 amounted to 24.1 billion, about 3.7% of its total expenditure, and an increase of 900 million compared to 2019.
However, the police force stands at 353 police officers per 100 residents.
