Stephanie Lottermoser (38) was in the Geretsrieder Ratsstuben for the last time at her graduation ball.

Now it has returned - as a constant in the world of jazz.

Geretsried

- She was born in Wolfratshausen, played in the big band of the Geretsried high school, has lived in Hamburg for three years and has long since made a name for herself in the international jazz scene. The guest performance in the fully occupied Ratsstubensaal on Thursday evening was still something special for saxophonist Stephanie Lottermoser. “The last time I was here for my graduation,” the 38-year-old recalled with a laugh. This time the artist welcomed her former patron and music teacher Horia Dinu Nicolaescu and family members in the audience.

Accompanied by pianist Till Zahm, drummer Felix Lehrmann and bassist Martin Ziaja, Lottermoser opened the concert with two pieces from their current album "Hamburg", which was released last spring. She has dedicated several songs to life in her adopted home in northern Germany. This is how “Zwischenraum” describes her move and the acclimatization process in the port metropolis. The fact that Lottermoser is not only excellent at playing the saxophone, but can also sing, was demonstrated by the Nancy Sinatra cover version “These Boots Are Made For Walking” and the love song “What Kind Of Lovesong”.

The artist then used the half-hour concert break to talk to her former math teacher Gerhard Vogel.

The natural science subject was never one of the strengths of the former student at the University of Music and Theater in Munich.

“But he always understood if I couldn't take an exam because of musical activities and had to take it over,” the artist revealed.

In the second half of the concert she spoiled the audience with the outstanding piece "Hype", which thanks to the virtuoso piano playing by Till Sahm had a long lasting effect. In the end, Stephanie Lottermoser was grateful that, after the concert cancellations due to the corona, she was allowed to play in front of an audience again this summer. "Music is my favorite language, but I only talked to myself for a year and I almost went crazy," the saxophonist confessed shortly before her encore. Anyone who missed their appearance in the Ratsstubensaal can experience Stephanie Lottermoser and her band on October 15 in the culture stage ambush.
