Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced today that Russian President Vladimir Putin has emphasized on more than one occasion Moscow's aspiration towards normalizing relations with Ukraine.
And the Russia Today website quoted Peskov as saying in his statements that "President Putin proceeds from the fact that the evaluation of the work of the presidents of Ukraine belongs to its citizens, and they must vote for the person they want to head their country."
Peskov added that "this matter is the prerogative of the Ukrainian people. As for us, we can only acknowledge that the Russian Federation, represented by President Putin, reaffirms its desire to move towards normalizing its relations with Ukraine."
Russia has repeatedly denied Kiev's accusations of interfering in Ukraine's affairs, stressing that it is not a party to the conflict in the Donbas region, southeast of Ukraine.
