She also said that the government has been fully supporting Hong Kong disabled athletes. As early as 2001, the Hong Kong Disabled Elite Athletes Fund was established, and in 2017, it launched a pilot project for elite funding for disabled sports. In 2019, the plan will be regularized, giving disabled athletes full-time training opportunities and direct financial support.

On the whole, the government's resources for the development of sports for people with disabilities have increased substantially in recent years. The budgeted expenditure for 2021-22 is 100 million yuan, more than double that of 2017-18.
