President Alberto Fernández assured that former president Mauricio Macri
asked him for help to be able to face the end of his term
in 2019, and pointed out that it is in "the essence" of the former head of state "not to value democracy."
"He
asked me in the transition to help him calm the economy
because it had gotten out of hand," said Fernández, who pointed out that Macri called him "the day they put the exchange stocks", after the defeat in the 2019 primaries. .
"He told me 'I'm going to apply one of those measures that you like, (Guido) Sandleris is going to call you to explain, I ask you to help me because we have no way to stop the drain of dollars that are leaving.' Of course who told me, "he added.
According to Fernández, "in us the sense of responsibility prevailed and we helped him to get out, to reach December 10 and that the entire transition is respecting the rules, and at the same time, stop what had triggered when he went behind the STEP , to put a little order in the economy because those who suffer are the Argentines ".
He also affirmed that "it is clear that
in its essence it is not to value democracy or institutionality"
and emphasized: "He was the first to go to recognize the triumph of (Jeanine) Áñez in Bolivia. It is clear that he does not have an assessment of democracy like the vast majority of Argentines ".
Speaking to radio El Uncover, he also maintained that he has "the feeling that the pain caused by the pandemic, the infections, the deaths, many Argentines made them forget what happened before the pandemic, but we received a devastated country."
And he added: "Now I hear them explain incredible things: that they didn't really get into debt like they did, or that they grew like they never did ... they say things with an annoying lightness, because what Sergio Massa tells is true: they asked us that we stop the run on the dollar that they themselves had generated after the STEP of 2019 ".
Less than a week for the primaries, the head of state said that "today we are the same as in December 2019."
