Nabila Masrali, spokeswoman for the European Union's Commissioner for Security and Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, considered it premature to talk about the date or nature of the European presence in the Afghan capital, Kabul, after the Taliban movement seized power.
The Italian Aki news agency quoted Masrali as saying today, in response to questions regarding the “coordinated” European diplomatic presence in Kabul, which Borrell announced last week, “that the union is conducting a comprehensive assessment of the situation in Afghanistan and is awaiting how the Taliban will implement the conditions set by the Europeans to establish a dialogue with it, and that the movement She will be judged for her actions, not her words.”
And Borrell considered during the past week that political dialogue with the Taliban does not mean recognizing it, stressing the importance of ensuring safe access to humanitarian aid for the Afghan people and continuing the fight against terrorism, in addition to securing a safe passage for Afghans who still want to leave and emigrate.
