Every Monday from 22:00 you can listen and watch 'El Ágora de Hora 25', via 'streaming' and then on SER Podcast, aggregators and YouTube.

The blockade in the General Council of the Judiciary, the pending accounts of the emeritus king with Justice, the minimum wage, the Housing law and more issues that we will put on the table in a great radiophonic agora full of analysis and information.

The CGPJ and its blockade

The Supreme Court has hosted this Monday the opening ceremony of the Judicial Year 2021/2022, presided over by the king, and the most tense in recent years. The act took place in the Plenary Hall of the high court and is the fourth consecutive year that it has been held with the expired mandate of its members, with the political negotiations between the Government and the PP blocked without the possibility of the situation being redirected short term. The president of the General Council of the Judiciary and the Supreme, Calos Lesmes, has demanded in his speech to PSOE and PP that they finalize an agreement for the renewal of the governing body of the judges, which has been in office for more than 1,000 days, a standstill that jeopardizes judicial independence. This has been one of the crucial themes in the Agora of Hour 25.

Carmen Calvo: "The blockade has no explanation. We can talk about different formulas, but we are talking about the governing body, not the operating model of the Spanish courts, the concept of independence not only has to do with the appointment"

🎥 @PabloIglesias: “It is no coincidence that everything that Villarejo represents and the history of the sewers emerges now, that includes owners of important media, economic powers that say 'I will not get into politics as long as political power does not touch me noses "pic.twitter.com/dlR51ML2Kv

@MargalloJm: "Accusing the PP, from the thought of United We Can, that we are not constitutionalists is a bit strong" https://t.co/N9nJIvLmoo # ElÁgoraDeHora25 pic.twitter.com/IsASjBQ1GI

@carmencalvo_, on the blockade of the Judiciary: “It is incomprehensible, it is something that in the politics of our country has been a hammer.

Legal security is an extraordinary foundation of democracy, without it, it doesn't work ”# ElÁgoraDeHora25 pic.twitter.com/VQjBdChcAK

Carmen Calvo: "I do not know to what extent a public office can continue to do and say that, block the governing body of the judges"

García-Margallo: "I think the reflection is that we go to the meritocracy"

García-Margallo: "The issue of the CGPJ has reached the European institutions, all the executives tend to control the Judicial Power because it is the one that can control them"

Pablo Iglesias: "The two parties had the opportunity to change the body of the judges, but in Spain they are chosen that way. The Constitution is not being complied with. Here is a definitive WhatsApp that is Ignacio Cosidó's"

Pablo Iglesias: "The only way is to renew a reform to the last consequences, there are legal mechanisms to make a qualified majority renew the CGPJ"

Carmen Calvo: "The one who has power in a democracy is the citizen, including the Judiciary. The only thing missing is that the Congress and the Senate were not the Cortes Generales, the PP has wanted to lead the debate on judicial independence so forced with the Government on the shift we have heard atrocities (...) The true holder of power is the Spanish people "

Pablo Iglesias: "What builds democracy is that anyone can access quality public services (...) Where there are no public schools, there is no kind of freedom. I think that Spain is plurinational, but so is the PP"

The price of light

The average price of electricity in the wholesale market (pool) rises again this Monday after the three days of decline at the weekend and stands at 132.65 euros per megawatt hour (MWh), on the scale of maximums history that began in August and reached its record last Thursday. The price of electricity, which marks the most expensive Monday in history in Spain, more than triples that of the first Monday in September last year (39.53 euros), according to data from the market operator OMIE, and is ten euros more expensive than last Monday, although economic activity was lower then, being August.

García-Margallo: "When the PSOE ruled, the price of electricity has always risen (...) We knew that emission rights were going to go up, there have been ceiling proposals, but that is prohibited by the European directive, we can fly the EU, but while we are we will have to comply "

Pablo Iglesias: "A good part of the problem of the price of electricity has to do with the fact that there is an oligopoly (...) A scandal is added and it is that there have been former presidents or former ministers in the boards of directors. It gives the impression that these companies have not assumed that they have representatives of the public interest (...) We defend that there be a public energy company (...) If there are no social mobilizations this will get worse "

Carmen Calvo: "The Government is on the block, it is tackling the matter at a very difficult time. There is no parallel to how the Popular Party got us out of the crisis and how this Government is getting us out"
