Freising

- Around 100 Freising people demonstrated for better climate policy on Friday evening.

The initiatives Mahnwache Klimagerechtigkeit and Fridays for Future organized a human chain along the Untere Hauptstrasse between Marienplatz and General-von-Nagel-Strasse.

In the past few years the government has consistently "blocked" climate protection.

“16 lost years are enough,” was the tenor of the participants.

The federal election on September 26th must become a “climate election”.

The flood disaster in Rhineland-Palatinate, the burning forests in southern Europe and other continents had shown it again: one has to adapt more and more to the consequences of climate change - whether heat or floods.

Therefore, a government is needed that quickly implements the expansion of renewable energies.

"For the future of our children," emphasized the chairman of the meeting, Ernst Hörmann.

"We have to build up pressure so that the next generations can survive as well."

"Time is running out"

The participants were aware of the urgency of the topic.

“With my presence, I want to set an example for climate targets,” emphasized a Freising woman.

“Time is of the essence,” said the Protestant university pastor Anne Lüters, who was also part of the human chain.

"I would like my church to represent this even more consistently."

The distance rules were strictly observed.

Posters, scarves and shawls ensured that the corona regulations could be complied with.

One of the posters emphasized that everyone could contribute to the goal: “I want to take part in climate protection,” it said.

“Use empty spaces instead of sealing them” and “Insulating saves energy” were advised, for example.

Under the eyes of the security forces, the human chain had lined up from Marienplatz along Untere Hauptstrasse.

Although, as originally planned, the route was no longer extended over the Unteren Graben back to Marienplatz, the organizers were satisfied with the response.
