Peter Braun celebrates his 80th birthday on September 9th.

Originally a judge by profession, Dr.

Peter Braun and his wife Lissy moved from Munich to the Fürstenfeldbruck district in Germering in 1971.

In 1972 he was elected to the local council of what was then

Germering

and in May 1974 he was elected

mayor

there.

Between December 1974 and 2014 Braun was a member of the Fürstenfeldbruck district council. Six years of which as

spokesman for the SPD district parliamentary group

and from 2008 to 2014 as deputy district administrator. “Peter Braun is one of those people who can combine representing their political stance with great friendliness and appreciation. I really enjoyed working with him. His involvement in the hospice sector, which I admire very much, can fill a gap in the district. I wish the jubilee the success of his projects and also the joy of the freedoms that one can enjoy at 80 ”, says District Administrator Thomas Karmasin.

After the regional reform and the formation of the Germering community, he returned to the judicial service as a judge in 1978 and was elected to the Bavarian state parliament in 1986.

He gave up this position in 1991 in favor of his election as First Mayor of Germering.

During his tenure from 1991 to 2008, Germering was finally elevated to a major district town in 2005.


Dr.

Peter Braun was awarded the municipal medal of merit in bronze in 1993 and in silver in 2005.

In 2008 he also received the

Bavarian Constitutional Medal in silver

.

His commitment as the first chairman of the Germering Hospice Association is correspondingly high.

“Most people wish that they could live and die in their familiar surroundings to the end.

In order to meet this wish, we advise and support critically ill, dying people and their relatives with our association, ”says Braun.

hospice currently

under construction

in Germering

, in which the hospice association will take over voluntary care.

Together with his wife, Lissy, the jubilee has four children and a total of 12 grandchildren.
