Corona in Austria: Chancellor Kurz excludes lockdown for vaccinated people
There should definitely be no corona lockdown for vaccinated people in Austria.
Chancellor Sebastian Kurz announced this on television on September 6th.
In addition, the seven-day incidence should no longer be the benchmark for any restrictions.
Rather, the bed occupancy in the intensive care units should become the new leading index for decisions.
"There will certainly be no more lockdowns for vaccinated people," said Kurz.
He wants as few restrictions on freedom as possible.
For him, this means "that the time of lockdowns must be over".
If necessary, there should only be restrictions for the unvaccinated - and then if there is a threat of overloading the hospitals.
"Before an area is completely closed, I prefer it to remain open to vaccinated people," said Kurz.

Corona virus in Austria: Vienna with strict corona rules
Vienna's Mayor Michael Ludwig took the Chancellor's statements as a swipe at the corona measures in the capital. “It would make sense to advise on an equal footing before going public,” Ludwig complained. The Kurz strategy was “not sufficient to deal with the situation,” claimed the SPÖ politician. In Vienna, Michael Ludwig relies on a mask requirement in all retail, shortened validity of negative corona tests and restrictions on visitor capacities at events. "The pandemic is not over for those who have been vaccinated", reminded Michael Ludwig.
Whether the stricter corona measures will be relaxed in the Austrian capital soon will likely be decided on Wednesday. Then the heads of government of the federal states meet Chancellor Kurz. There will be a need for discussion between the Mayor of Vienna Michael Ludwig and Sebastian Kurz. (
