The European "Copernicus" Agency for Climate Change announced that Europe experienced this year the warmest summer on record since the start of data recording.
Reuters quoted the agency as saying that "the average surface air temperature between last June and August was close to one degree Celsius above the average between 1991 and 2020, making it the highest temperature ever recorded in its data set."
The agency noted that globally, last August and August 2017, the third highest temperature ever recorded, with more than 0.3 degrees Celsius above the average between 1991 and 2020.
