Gastronomy association continues to see the sector on the losing side

Allgäu - The curfew in gastronomy is falling, clubs and discos should be allowed to open from October under strict conditions and the 3G rule will remain nationwide. Bavaria's Prime Minister Söder announced this earlier this week. The Association for the Preservation of Bavarian Tavern Culture (VEBWK) criticizes the new rules. This made it difficult for the ailing industry to do business economically.

"Even if the last rules announced by Prime Minister Söder are being sold as a relaxation, the measures for the catering sector represent a significant worsening of the situation," says VEBWK Chairman Franz Bergmüller, "it has already been shown that from an incidence of 35, in other words, with the 3G rule taking effect, guests in the indoor catering sector are absent. This regulation will continue to be felt by the companies. Especially since the tests will be chargeable from October 11th. "

In addition, further tightening cannot be ruled out if the newly introduced “hospital traffic light” turns red. This means that the operators lack the all-important planning security. "The catering industry, which has been abused as a scapegoat from the start, is once again being abused for political purposes," criticized Bergmüller. “Söder exerts inappropriate vaccination pressure on the population on the backs of our restaurateurs. This is neither appropriate nor acceptable in any way! "

The VEBWK welcomes the lifting of the contact restrictions as well as the participant restrictions for private and public events, which also benefit the catering and event organizers. The elimination of the curfew is a long overdue decision for the club chairman. "Young people in particular have increasingly ignored this rule in recent weeks and months," says Franz Bergmüller. "As was the case during the forced closure of the gastronomy, it could be observed here that the celebrations are simply relocated to private rooms - without the hygiene concepts that are implemented in restaurants."

The association also sees itself confirmed in its demands with regard to the explicit opening perspective for bars and discos. "We fought for a long time and are now pleased that this topic, which has been hushed up by politics for so long, is finally being dealt with," says VEBWK managing director Dr. Ursula Zimmermann. “The fact that, in addition to vaccinated and convalescent people, only people who have an expensive negative PCR test should have access is tantamount to a 2G rule. Only a few visitors will buy this expensive admission ticket to go dancing. "

Franz Bergmüller also sees the economic operation of bars and discos as a massive threat. “In Baden-Württemberg, some operators have kept their doors closed due to the same regulation. And in Austria, too, it can be seen that many discos close again because of the lack of guests. Once again, the catering industry has to suffer the damage. ”Bergmüller also fears severe financial losses with regard to cultural events. "Whether with the 3G rule and without a mask at the seat at full capacity or with a mask and half capacity - both options present obstacles for visitors and thus make economic activity difficult!"

Even if the association for the preservation of Bavarian inn culture welcomes some of the newly announced regulations, it remains questionable, especially with the opening of bars and discos, whether the easing will actually bring relief for the operators.

It is clear that even with the new "traffic light concept" there is no planning security.

This would mean that Christmas markets, New Year's Eve events or weddings would once again be on the brink this year.
