Hello, I am Dr. Elmer Huerta and this is your dose of information about the new coronavirus, information that we hope will be useful to take care of your health and that of your family.

Today we will answer some questions that we have been asked on our Twitter account @DrHuerta.

Questions about post-vaccination infection

@drhuerta good morning, my boyfriend tested positive today, but he started to feel bad on Wednesday and yesterday he had a fever, we saw each other last weekend and I got my second dose yesterday of modern

Hello Alejandra, the person who receives the first dose of the vaccine is partially protected, so the possibility of being infected is less.

If that person were to become infected, the disease that they would develop would not be more intense by the action of the vaccine.

That disease would be the same as what you would have had if you had not been vaccinated.

Dr. If a person had a reaction to the second dose of the vaccine, can they spread it to other people?

If so, how long should it be in quarantine?

- zully torres (@zullytorres) September 3, 2021

Hi Zully, very good question, but I tell you that is not possible.

Remember that no vaccine uses active viruses capable of causing disease, so no vaccinated person is capable of spreading the disease.

Questions about post-infection vaccination

@drhuerta I recently came out of the covid, I was hospitalized, how many months should I wait to get vaccinated?

I am from Nicaragua and because of my age I still have to wait my turn.

Greetings

- Luis Avendaño (@ luisavenda84) September 4, 2021

Hi Luis, you can get vaccinated at any time, but the immunity produced by the disease will protect you for at least 90 days.

@drhuerta B / d Dr., I am 44 years old, I had mild covid on 5-6-21, I already placed the two doses of sinopharm.

Do I have enough antibodies to protect myself against the Delta?

How effective is the sinopharm vaccine against Delta?

Am I likely to get infected again?

- Judith Medina (@JuMedinajudy) September 4, 2021

Hi Judith, unfortunately no one can assure you of that.

A person who passed the disease can be reinfected, and a vaccinated person can become infected.

Until the outlook for the pandemic clears up, we must continue to take care of ourselves, including people who have had the disease and people who have been vaccinated.

@drhuerta I had severe covid, I was intubated and in ICU.

3 months have passed so I have to get vaccinated.

Is it possible that I have strong symptoms when receiving the vaccine given how severe I was?

Please tell me, there are too many sequels ... 💔

- Viviana Rodriguez b (@vivirodb) September 2, 2021

I am very sorry for what Viviana went through and I am glad that she is much better.

Of course, you must be vaccinated and, from what has been published, there is no direct relationship between the severity of the disease and the intensity of the side effects from the vaccine.

Hopefully there are no side effects.

Questions about dose interval

@drhuerta Hello, good afternoon I greet you from Huauchinango Puebla Mexico, since June 4 they applied the 1st dose of Astra Zeneca and there is no time for the 2nd.

Does the scheme still serve me even if more time passes?

- G2M (@lgltdef) September 4, 2021

Hello G2M, when the AstraZeneca vaccine was licensed in the UK, the second dose was authorized to be postponed for up to 3 months.

In such a way that you are still in time for you to receive your second dose.

@drhuerta Merhaba Dear Dr;

Is it possible to take the second dose of astrazeneca 1 month after the first dose?

Thanks beforehand for your attention

- Dialenli Yonli (@DialenliY) September 4, 2021

Hello Dialenli, of course, what the manufacturer recommends is that the second dose be applied at four weeks or 28 days.

Dr. Huerta, you really do know about vaccines, I want to know if it is true that the second dose of the modern vaccine can be received 84 days later.

Unfortunately we have a bad government and they report that there are no vaccines.

My second dose was August 28.

- PILAR SARMIENTO (@ mapi1289) September 2, 2021

Hello Pilar, that is not true.

The manufacturer of Moderna recommends that the second dose be received within 28 days.

Very sorry.

Dear Dr. Huerta @drhuerta I kindly want to ask, I put the first dose of Pfizer in the USA, but now in Mexico I can put the second dose of Moderna, is this possible?

Thank you...

- rafael magaña (@rafaelhugomagan) September 2, 2021

Hi Rafael, some countries, like Canada, allow the interchangeable use of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

You need to find out if the Mexican Ministry of Health allows it.

Questions about the spread of coronavirus

@drhuerta Dr. send you a fraternal greeting.

Take this opportunity to ask, does Lysol spray help us protect ourselves from covid by spraying it in a closed room where there is no ventilation?

I do this every time a stranger (with or without a mask) comes out of her and before I enter

- AC (@CmenTitanico) September 5, 2021

Hi AC, I don't think that can help.

Disinfectant sprays are large and will fall to the ground very quickly, while breath sprays are so small that they float in the air longer.

It would be best if you open the windows to ventilate the room and, if it does not have windows, at least leave the door open and I do not think it is a place that should accommodate several people.

@drhuerta Hello!

I work with children.

I took an antivirus test and it came back negative.

I received Sinovac vaccine.

How can I protect myself and my children?

- Cristina Garcia (@ridiculaymas) September 4, 2021

Hello Cristina, very good question.

The most important elements of protection in these circumstances are the ventilation of the place, the physical space and the use of masks, if the age of the children allows it.

Hand washing is obviously also very important.

@drhuerta Hello Dr.Huerta, I have a question. (COVID 19 or SarCov-2 can be spread to animals, for example dogs, cats. I am talking about circulating within your body, not that the animal's hair can carry it ) And if so, animals can transmit COVID 19?

Thanks!

- Rey © ️ 📲 (@ Reynaldo8509) September 4, 2021

Hi Rey, infections have been documented in dogs and cats, but so far no pets have been shown to infect humans.

@drhuerta Good afternoon doctor, how are you, I am writing to you from Venezuela.

My question is: if I get the vaccine today, can I have sports activities like basketball and aerobic exercises starting tomorrow?

- Johan Gonzalez (@ johanrg5) September 4, 2021

Hi Johan, of course I do, but it all depends on the side effects.

If you do not present them, you can lead your normal life, including physical activity.

@drhuerta good afternoon, being in a closed space, without ventilation like the office and shared with about 10 people, the protection of the N95 face mask and a mask is enough, thank you for your answer.

- Adriana Murcia (@ Adriana66635246) September 2, 2021

Hi Adriana, although it is true that using a well-fitting N95 mask or a double mask and a face shield can help you avoid getting infected, unfortunately it is not enough.

The most important action is to air out the office and keep your distance.

The question is why don't we have COVID 19 if we don't wear masks in my classroom?

- GuisselaJC (@ GUISSEL21671482) September 1, 2021

Very good question Guissela, it is very likely that they have not yet been infected because there has not been any person infected with SARS CoV2 in the classroom.

I have to tell you that when a person is found to be infected with the flu, cold or covid-19 virus in that classroom, someone could become infected.

Questions about vaccines and serological tests

@drhuerta How to detect antibodies by vaccination, are they the same as those generated by the disease?

And how long are they detectable?

- Fary Aguilera (@ FaryAguilera11) September 2, 2021

Hello Fary, unfortunately the measurement of neutralizing antibodies to know if the person is protected after a vaccination is not authorized by the FDA or the WHO.

This is because, as they are not standardized, the interpretation of the results is very difficult.

Also, those tests only measure the antibody-producing component stimulated by the vaccine, and they do not measure memory cell immunity, which is very important in the response to a vaccine.

If you are vaccinated: Is the serology test always going to be positive because the antigens are active in your body?

@drhuerta

- PatrickSaav (@PatrickSaav) September 2, 2021

Good question Patrick, if you mean the common serological tests that are used to find out if a person has already passed the disease, I tell you that these serological tests do not work to detect the neutralizing antibodies produced in response to vaccines.

Other questions about the virus

@drhuerta with that doubt about the variants or mutations of the covid19 (sar-cov-2), according to the report in @CNNEE how it is possible that countries like France are filling the football stadiums 100%

- Charlie Alfonso (@ CharlieAlfonso3) September 5, 2021

Hi Charlie, the reason is that the European countries that show us full stadiums have more than 60% of their population fully vaccinated.

In addition, the controls mean that only fully vaccinated people can attend.

With that, it is not guaranteed that infections will not occur, but the possibilities are minimal.

@drhuerta

Good morning, sure you have to continue taking care of yourself, but I would like to see more information about new vaccines or about medications for the treatment of the disease, whatever the variant.

Is any of this going on?

- Víctor Pino Salvador (@victorpino) September 4, 2021

Hi Victor, of course, there is a lot of research being done to find new vaccines and drugs, both preventive and treatment of severe cases.

Unfortunately, no effective medication has yet been found in prevention, it has been seen, however, that monoclonal antibodies could be effective in preventing the disease from progressing in a person

Dr. Thanks a question, if we use N95 mask with the certifications of the case, should we use another mask?

- Adriana Murcia (@ Adriana66635246) September 4, 2021

Very good question Adriana.

It is not necessary to use a double mask, if what is used is an N95 respirator.

The number 95 means that the mask is capable of filtering 95% of the particles that come into contact with the respirator.

@drhuerta good afternoon.

I would like to ask you a question.

Do you know if there is any study that reports #MastheniaGravis as a post-vaccine effect of @pfizer_news?

Thanks in advance.

# Covid19mx

- Mayra O. Williams (@caritaSonriente) September 4, 2021

Hi Mayra, we have not been able to find any information that myasthenia gravis can be caused by the Pfizer vaccine.

One report communicates that a person's myasthenia flared after the second dose of Moderna's vaccine, but at the same time, a review of the forum of people with myasthenia gravis who got vaccinated shows us that tolerance to the vaccine was reported as normal.
