The surprise death of actor
Michael K. Williams
on Monday, September 6, shocked all of Hollywood.
Not only to fans of
The Wire
, or
Lovecraft Country
, this last series for which the interpreter, who died at the age of 54, could win the Emmy posthumously in a few days.
Here are five keys, five milestones about his last hours, his addiction problems, the
Emmy
, his last post on Instagram and the memory of those who knew him in private.
Your participation in "Lovecraft Country" may win you a posthumous Emmy.
He was a strong candidate to win it before his death.

Your last hours in your apartment
There was a phone call to 911, alerting.
That was on Monday the 6th, at 2:00 p.m.
And twelve minutes later, the official report already indicated the death of the actor.
On the other hand, the experts who entered Williams' apartment in Brooklyn found drugs in different places, and the hypothesis of a lethal overdose is the one that has been suggested since yesterday, when they found the inert body of the interpreter.
By September 2018, when he went to the premiere of the movie "The Public", at the Toronto Film Festival.

For example, there was heroin on the kitchen table.
In another sector of the department they found a drug cocktail.
But the cause of his death has not yet been determined.
The newspaper
The New York Post
published, citing police sources, that "there was no forced entry, the department was in order", so it would be ruled out that an intruder had broken into Williams' home by force.
Like Omar Little, in "The Wire."
It was in 51 of the 60 episodes.
He was never nominated for an Emmy for the series.

The memory
David Simon, the creator of
The Wire
, was one of those who shared his sadness on the networks.
"Too downcast right now to say everything that should be said. Michael was a good man and an original talent, and in our journey together he always deserved the best words. Today those words do not come to me," he wrote on his Twitter account .
Another fellow
The Wire
, actor Wendell Pierce, joined the Williams tribute online.
"The depth of my love for this brother can only be matched by the depth of my grief at the knowledge of his loss," wrote
Detective William "Bunk" Moreland
in
The Wire
.
"We lost one of the good guys," wrote actress Leslie Jones, who shared the set of
Ghostbusters
(2016) with him.
Williams was Agent Hawkins.
Williams spoke repeatedly of her addiction problems.

Viola Davis, Mariah Carey, Spike Lee, Taraji P. Henson and Jeffrey Dean Morgan were others who reflected their sadness over the death of the actor on social networks.
The emmy
For his performance as Montrose Freeman on the HBO series
Lovecraft Country, he
is a candidate for an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
The awards are given on Sunday, September 19, and Williams was already a wide favorite before now he could win it posthumously.

Seven other actors are nominated in their field.
Hard not to win.

If successful, he would be the seventh winner of a posthumous performance in the 73-year history of the Emmys.
His death will not be able to change the verdict of the voters, since that instance was closed on August 30.
Compete with seven other candidates: OT Fagbenle, Max Minghella and Bradley Whitford, all three for
The Handmaid's Tale
;
Giancarlo Esposito (
The Mandalorian
);
John Lithgow (
Perry Mason
);
Tobias Menzies (
The Crown
) and Chris Sulivan (
This Is Us
).
As Freddy Knight in the miniseries "The Night Of," for which he was nominated for an Emmy.

Williams had been nominated four other times for the Emmys - none of them for
The Wire
- and never took the statuette.
It was for best supporting actor in a limited series or a movie, by
Bessie
(HBO), in 2015;
in the same category, by
The Night Of
, also from HBO, but in 2017;
Best Outstanding or Special Informational Series as
Vice
Executive Producer
(HBO) in 2018;
and again for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie, for
When They See Us
(Netflix), in 2019.
Your drug problems
Over the years, Williams had spoken openly and on countless public occasions about his drug problems, including during his recording of
The Wire
.
In 2016, for example, he recounted in an interview with public radio NPR how he had found help in a church in New Jersey at a difficult time, and in which addiction, he said, threatened to destroy his career.

The truth is that the last post of Michael K. Williams on the social network Instagram was something to talk about.
It was almost a week ago, Wednesday, September 1, and can be viewed on your account.
He wrote “I love you, brother.
@tracymorgan #realOG ”, and in it he uploaded a video of Tracy Morgan, in which the
Saturday Night Live
and
30 Rock
comedian
asked his own followers and his interviewer not to cry for him.
Tracy had been seriously injured on June 7, 2014, when an 18-wheeler rear-ended his limousine on a New Jersey freeway.
His uncle, who was accompanying him, passed away, and he was on the verge of death, and due to the accident he had to stop working -also, he is a standapero- for a long time, following a physical rehabilitation.
The Williams, was it, perhaps, a call for help?
