Forty-seven pro-democracy activists were charged with conspiracy to subvert state power for their involvement in organizing and participating in the "35+" primary election.
One of the defendants, Fan Guowei, a former member of the Legislative Council, was refused bail in the Magistrates' Court and applied to the High Court for a guarantee today (7th).
After hearing the submissions, the judge designated by the National Security Law, Du Libing, rejected her application and will issue a verdict to explain the rationale in the future.
After Fan Guowei was refused bail, the observers told him to "take care", and Fan responded by raising his fist.
Among the 47 defendants in the case, 13 were granted bail, including: Huang Biyun, Yang Xueying, Zheng Dahong, Li Yuxin, Zou Jiacheng, Lin Jingnan, Peng Zhuoqi, Lu Zhiheng, Liu Weicong, He Qiming, Ke Yaolin, Shi Delai and Yu Huiming.
The case will be heard again in West Kowloon on September 23.
In the case, 13 defendants were released on bail, including Yu Huiming and Zou Jiacheng, who were granted bail in the High Court earlier.
