Paris: two suspects arrested after the robbery of a jewelry store in Place Vendôme

Two men, suspected of a robbery in Paris committed by a team of which several members fled, were arrested after a chase, we learned Tuesday from a police source.

" of the police which allowed the arrest of the two individuals.

"The police, informed around 12:00 of a possible robbery at Place Vendôme, chased a car with three occupants and two scooters,

" said the police source. The investigation was entrusted to the brigade for the repression of banditry (BRB) of the Paris judicial police.

The targeted jewelry is that of the Bulgari sign, according to a source familiar with the matter, who however adds that "

it is still too early to speak of the damage

". The vehicle, a gray BMW, was abandoned after a police chase in the 4th arrondissement, in the center of the capital. A police officer shot and injured one of the criminals in the leg, who was then arrested. A second man, who had taken refuge in the underground parking lot of the Forum des Halles, was also arrested.

The summer has already been marked by two major robberies of jewelry stores in Paris. On July 27, a man on a scooter seized a booty valued at 2 million euros in the Chaumet brand. He was arrested the next day with his accomplice and most of the damage found. Three days later, two men, armed with an electric pulse pistol and a tear gas canister, stole 400,000 euros worth of jewelry from a Dinh Van store.
