Bad Tölz - On September 1st, 24 young women and men started their three-year training as nurses.
In the next three years, the nursing staff of tomorrow will not only have theory but also 2,100 hours of practical training on the program.
In January 2020, the Nursing Professions Act replaced the previously applicable sickness and geriatric care laws.
The three nursing professions “health and nurse, health and child nurse” and “geriatric nurse” are merged into a uniform nursing profession and the trainees can then call themselves nurses after successfully completing three years of training.
“The trainees learn together for two years and set a focus for practical training.
In the third year, they can choose a specialization or continue their generalist training, ”explains Christine Zürr, Rector of the Vocational School for Nursing at the Asklepios nursing schools.
Anatomy, psychology, law and pathology
The curriculum includes topics such as nursing, as well as anatomy, psychology, law, and pathology.
In addition, after a month, the trainees are assigned to practical training in various areas of the Asklepios City Clinic in Bad Tölz.
This also includes the emergency room, the operating theater and the intensive care unit.
There are also assignments in cooperating institutions, including other clinics and specialist hospitals in the surrounding area, outpatient care services and local nursing homes.
"The restructuring of nursing training is upgrading the job description and the possible applications are becoming more diverse," emphasizes Zürr.
"The standardization of the training is not only intended to expand the range of possible applications, but also to facilitate the coordination of internships and to design the training to be of an even higher quality."
