The test match between the Erding Gladiators and ESC Dorfen was a real foretaste of the upcoming Bayern League season.
Erding - In the last game of the Autumn Cup, the Erding Gladiators and ESC Dorfen fought a tough fight in the Stadtwerke Arena Erding, which the hosts ultimately won with 2: 1 goals (0: 1, 2: 0, 0: 0) for could decide.
That meant the cup victory for the gladiators in front of EV Moosburg, ESC Dorfen and Wanderers Germering.
There were relatively many goals in the first five tournament games: Dorfen lost to Moosburg 2: 3, Erding defeated Germering 9: 5, the next day the Eispiraten finished the Wanderers with 8: 0 goals and the Gladiators defeated Moosburg, trained by Bernie Englbrecht, 10: 0 . The EVM retained the upper hand in their last game against Germering with 7-5 goals.
In the final tournament game, there was a real fire in it. Erding had to do without the injured Daniel Krzizok and the professionally prevented Sebastian Schwarz, Dorfen had to do without the banned Max Steiner. The day before he had received a match penalty against Germering. In the last minute of the game, when the score was 8: 0 for Dorfen, he checked Andreas Schmelcher, who was left with a bloody nose. "That was a normal check - mia san ja ned at ping-pong", Dorfens trainer Franz Steer shouted on the field. The main referee, on the other hand, saw it as a check against the head and sent Steiner into the dressing room.
It was tough at the derby. Clearly recognizable: the ice pirate team bears Steer's signature: strong physical presence, no backing away, every check is completed, high speed. How hot the ice pirates were at the derby was shown not least by the fact that all the players who were not on the ice stood the entire game - no one sat on the bench.
The first upset was a check by Florian Zimmermann against Urban Sodja, right in front of the Dorfener Bank (10th).
The emotions really boiled only two minutes later when Dorfens Benedikt Dietrich checked Basti Cramer, who was kneeling on the floor.
Marko Babic and Alex Gantschnig grabbed the culprit, Bastian Rosenkranz and goalkeeper Luca Endres got involved from Dorfen.
There were two penalty minutes each for the four players involved in the brawl, Dietrich got away without penalty, although Cramer - despite the lattice helmet - had a bleeding wound on his face.

This resulted in a scuffle with several participants, who then had to go to the penalty box.

But ice hockey was also played, and Dorfen was allowed to cheer in the 16th minute. A penalty against Erding had just expired when Simon Franz hit with a slap shot from close range to make it 1-0. Almost the 2-0 would have fallen in the first section, because the Eispiraten had a 5-3 majority for almost 90 seconds, but goalkeeper Christoph Schedlbauer kept brilliant.
In the second section Zimmermann equalized when he was outnumbered when he pushed the puck through Endres' legs (22nd minute). A little later, Christoph Obermaier, who only hit the crossbar (24th), had bad luck on the other side. When the gladiators then outnumbered for the first time, it was defender Dominik Wagner who refueled and considered the 2: 1 (32nd). As a result, it was still a tough fighting game, with chances on both sides, but it didn't want to score any more. The closest to scoring were the Gladiators in the 57th minute, but Gantschnig only hit the crossbar.
A little later it was over. However, captain Philipp Michl was allowed to raise the Autumn Cup, and the players said goodbye amicably. The first league game derby will take place in Erding on November 12th. It shouldn't get any less hot and the friendships will rest again - for at least 60 minutes.
