The two VfLs are top, Kaufering and newly promoted Denklingen leaders in their leagues.

Great and not necessarily commonplace: the two coaches are not only happy about the strong performances of their teams, but also about the victories of their neighbors in the other group. “What a great snapshot of football in the district,” said Ben Enthart (42), the Kauferinger coach, to me. Addition: “It's really sensational what the Denklingers deliver.” Markus Ansorge (54), Denklingen's coach, returns the compliment immediately: “It's going great in Kaufering. Two trainers, two who appreciate each other, grant each other success - and have been friends at the BFV base in Issing since 2013. Pleasant: The coaches stay on the ground despite flying high and don't even think about correcting season goals. Ansorge does not want to know anything about "mandatory victories" (like the last 4-0 against bottom Kosova): "We are promoted, for whom every district league game is an experience."

When their teams don't play on the same day, they almost always watch the “other VfL”. With Denklingen's Ansorge there is another very special reason: his son Paul (photo) plays at Enthart in Kaufering. And so, a few weeks ago, during the preparation phase, a more than unusual occurrence came about: Paul had brought the Kauferinger jerseys home to wash after the game. No problem for dad: he put the jerseys in the washing machine. Thus, the trainer from Denklingen ensured that Kauferinger's playing clothes were clean. Where else such an action would be unthinkable. Enthart appreciates the help. On Sunday he told me: “I will return the favor in one of the last games of the season. Maybe I'll sell tickets in Denklingen or clean the cabin. "
