Even after the Taliban formed a government, the situation in Afghanistan remains tense.

Numerous women protested against the new government.

Kabul - Three weeks after taking power in Afghanistan *, the radical Islamic Taliban presented the first members of their government on Tuesday.

But there is sharp criticism of this: Only Taliban supporters are represented in the interim government - and not a single woman.

The new rulers are therefore also facing headwinds from Afghan society.

Despite the attempts by the militant Islamist Taliban * to suppress them, some with violence, protests continue in Afghanistan.

On Wednesday (September 8th) around 20 women demonstrated in the Dascht-e Bartschi district in the west of the capital Kabul.

The reported videos on social media and local journalists.

The women shouted “A cabinet without women will fail” and criticized the Taliban's interim government announced on Tuesday, which is a purely men's cabinet.

Women's protests against the Taliban: "Why is the world watching in silence"?

The women also held up signs saying “Work, Education, Freedom” and “Why is the world watching in silence?”.

A minor women's protest was reported from the city of Faisabad in the north, but was quickly disbanded, according to local media reports.

Protests are also taking place in Kabul for the third day in a row.

Some of the demonstrations have so far been directed against alleged interference by Pakistan in Afghanistan, some have called for more women's rights or criticized the Taliban's violent takeover of the Punjir province on Monday (6 September).

Taliban use violence against activists and journalists during protests

In the provinces of Gasni and Ghor, the Islamists prevented demonstrations on Tuesday, according to residents.

Violent clashes broke out in the western city of Herat on Tuesday.

A city activist said Wednesday that at least two protesters were killed and seven wounded.

The Taliban fired shots to drive the demonstrators apart.

On Tuesday, the Taliban arrested a group of reporters and cameramen for several hours after covering the protest in Kabul. Several large local TV stations then stopped reporting on the protests on Wednesday. Apparently there were clashes with media representatives again. A reporter for the Los Angeles Times wrote on Twitter on Wednesday that he and his photographer had been pushed around by the Taliban when they tried to cover a women's protest in Kabul.
