A Swedish tax officer was very resourceful in avoiding work.

At the expense of his employees, he skipped a simple trick.

Stockholm - To avoid work, some contemporaries use any means.

One of them was a 28-year-old Swedish tax officer, as reported by the Swedish newspaper

Dagens Nyheter

.

He dialed his own phone number for hours so he wouldn't have to work.

The Swede called his service number on his mobile phone instead of taking calls from customers.

As a result, his number appeared "busy" in his employer's system, and all calls were forwarded to other employees.

That comes from the disciplinary report of the Swedish tax authority.

Tax officer dialed his own number 32 times in three months

The 28-year-old called his phone number 32 times between March 10th and May 5th.

As a result, he was able to skip a total of 55 hours of work.

After all, that corresponds to seven working days in Sweden.

The report goes on to say, "Some of these calls lasted for several hours".

Not surprisingly, the man is now threatened with dismissal.

Perhaps it would not have occurred to him if there had been a four-day week in Sweden, as was successfully tested in Iceland.

Swedish tax officer complains of “extremely low” work motivation

Since the tax officer had been working from home since January 2021, his misconduct was not immediately noticed.

It would be until April before a manager noticed that the 28-year-old was making suspiciously long phone calls compared to other tax officials.

After initially denying it, the Swede finally admitted that he had not worked during these phone calls. There was no trace of regret, however: even after he was discovered, the tax officer dialed his own phone number four more times. His defense when he was summoned again at the end of May: His work motivation was "extremely low". Here you can find out how you can fight the post-holiday blues if you are not motivated after your vacation.
