The 7-day incidence of new corona infections has again decreased slightly in Germany.

Bremen currently has the highest incidence, but also the highest vaccination rate.

Berlin - According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the 7-day incidence across Germany has fallen to 82.7 (previous day: 83.8, previous week: 75.7).

But the infection rate is developing very differently in the federal states, as can be seen from the data on the Covid-19 dashboard on Wednesday morning.

Paradoxical numbers from Bremen

Bremen has the highest incidence with 117.6. However, the state is also at the top when it comes to vaccination rates. 76 percent of the population are vaccinated at least once. 71 percent of it completely! No federal state has managed that so far. Why Bremen is currently reporting high numbers of infections is still unclear at first. The city itself describes the infection process as diffuse. Many do not know where they were infected. There have been infected travelers returning, but many seafarers have also tested positive for Corona. The summer vacation in Bremen ended on September 1st.

For comparison: According to the data from the vaccination dashboard, 61.6 percent of the population across Germany is vaccinated.

However, Bremen set a high pace from the start of the vaccination campaign.

In the east there is comparatively little vaccination against Covid-19.

Saxony is at the bottom of the vaccination rate.

In view of the rising numbers, too little, experts warn.

In order to slow down the fourth corona wave *, a vaccination rate of 80 to 90 percent is necessary.

Medical President calls for a restart of the corona vaccination campaign

"The vaccination rate is too low in all of Germany, but especially in the eastern federal states," said medical president Klaus Reinhardt according to the

news agency

.

That is questionable with a view to autumn and winter.

Many unvaccinated people are not convinced that they refuse to vaccinate, said the President of the German Medical Association.

"In order to reach those who are undecided, the vaccination campaign in Germany has to be completely redesigned."

"But now we need much more targeted communication measures and low-threshold vaccination offers." What is needed are creative concepts.

Corona - RKI reports 13,565 new corona infections

Within one day, the RKI recorded 13,565 new corona infections.

A week ago there were 13,531 positive corona tests.

In addition, another 35 deaths were recorded (previous week: 23).

  • According to the RKI, 4,030,681 people in Germany have been shown to be infected with Sars-CoV-2.

  • 92,448 people died with or from Corona.

  • The RKI gives the number of those who have recovered at 3,793,000.

  • There are 145,300 active corona cases in Germany.

Corona pandemic: hospitalization rate in Germany

Hospitalization rate or hospitalization incidence is the number of corona patients admitted to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days.

The RKI gives the hospitalization incidence in its situation report from Tuesday evening as 1.69 (Monday 1.64).

The previous high was around 15.5 around Christmas time.

Because of the large regional differences, there is no limit to the point at which the situation becomes critical.

The 7-day incidence is calculated according to RKI information on the basis of the reporting date to the local health department.

According to this, an average of about ten days elapse between an infection and hospitalization, so this value reflects the infection situation with a noticeable delay.
