For the first time since the beginning of June: the coefficient of infection is lower than 1 | Israel today

2021-09-08T13:44:41.123Z

According to Prof. Eran Segal, the coefficient is currently 0.95 • "There is a significant decrease in both the percentage of positive tests and the number of new difficult patients"

A sign of stopping the fourth wave:

According to updated morbidity data presented today (Wednesday) by Prof. Eran Segal of the Weizmann Institute, the infection rate in Corona has dropped below 1 and stands at 0.95.

The last time the R was below 1 was on June 2, so it was set at 0.89.

Prof. Segal noted in a tweet that "the decrease is not due to fewer tests. The number of tests in the last two days is similar to that of a week ago. There is a decrease in both the percentage of positive tests and the number of new difficult patients."

As is well known, the coefficient of infection, which indicates how many people on average infect each person, is calculated 14 days back.

The figure presented by Prof. Segal means that the morbidity is "shrinking", and the number of active patients is declining.

Alongside this, during the day and throughout the holiday, huge queues were recorded at the "Checked and Travel" complexes around the country.

Many who came to them had to wait for hours in vehicles.

As a result, heavy loads were created, including in the Yes Planet complex in Rishon Lezion.

MDA reported that in the rapid test complexes under its responsibility, active traffic can be seen, but no abnormal loads.

In these complexes, more than 13,000 people were examined by the afternoon, of whom 225 were diagnosed with the virus. It was also reported that some of the complexes will remain open until 22:30 and that a telephone appointment must be made before arriving at the complexes.
