For the first time since the beginning of June: the coefficient of infection is lower than 1 | Israel today

2021-09-08T23:54:02.111Z

According to Prof. Eran Segal, the coefficient is currently 0.95 • "There is a significant decrease in both the percentage of positive tests and the number of new difficult patients"

A sign of stopping the fourth wave:

According to updated morbidity data presented today (Wednesday) by Prof. Eran Segal of the Weizmann Institute, the infection rate in Corona has dropped below 1 and stands at 0.95.

The last time the R was below 1 was on June 2, so it was set at 0.89.

Prof. Segal noted in a tweet that "the decrease is not due to fewer tests. The number of tests in the last two days is similar to that of a week ago. There is a decrease in both the rate of positive tests and the number of new difficult patients."

As is well known, the coefficient of infection, which indicates how many people on average infect each person, is calculated 14 days back.

The figure presented by Prof. Segal means that the morbidity is "shrinking", and the number of active patients is declining.

The adhesion coefficient decreased below 1 and stands at 0.95

The decrease is not due to fewer tests.

Happy new year to everyone

Meanwhile, Beilinson Hospital has reported a significant drop in the number of inpatients in the Corona Inpatient Department in the past two days.

According to the department's director, Dr. Noa Elyakim Raz, "We are looking with cautious optimism at the holiday data.

There is a marked decrease mainly in the elderly patients and the vaccinated elderly, probably due to the third vaccine which confers better immunity to this population.

There is still a share of unvaccinated young people at all, who come to the hospital very ill.

I urge this population to get vaccinated. "

Alongside this, during the day and throughout the holiday, huge queues were recorded at the "Checked and Travel" complexes around the country.

Many who came to them had to wait for hours in vehicles.

As a result, heavy loads were created, including in the Yes Planet complex in Rishon Lezion.

The queue at the test complex near the Moshava Stadium in Petah Tikva has already begun on Road 5. Some of the respondents said that they waited more than three hours and for some of them the fuel and water ran out.

A woman waiting to be examined at the Home Front Command compound in Beer Tuvia testified: "We arrived here three hours ago and have been crawling ever since. There were dozens before and dozens behind me. They only opened at 15:00. It's madness here, barely moving."

MDA reported that in the rapid test complexes that are the responsibility of the organization, active traffic can be seen, but no unusual loads.

In these complexes, more than 13,000 people were examined by the afternoon, of whom 225 were diagnosed with the virus. It was also reported that some of the complexes will remain open until 22:30 and that an appointment must be made at the site or call center before arrival.
