An earthquake of magnitude 6.9 on the Richter scale occurred Tuesday night in southeastern Mexico, said the National Seismology Center, a US center also warning of a risk of tsunami.

The epicenter is 14 km southeast of Acapulco, in the state of Guerrero, 400 km south of Mexico City, the center said.
