The driver probably did not see the cyclist and ran over him.
It was around 9:20 p.m. that the drama began this Tuesday evening on the D 83 near Thieux.
According to the first elements of the investigation, the driver of a heavy goods vehicle which circulated at night on this unlit axis between Thieux and Mitry-Mory would have felt that he had struck an obstacle.
So he turned around and was horrified to see that he had run over a 68-year-old cyclist.
The victim, who worked in Thieux, did not survive.
According to the first investigation entrusted to the Chelles-Villeparisis police station, the cyclist was not wearing a fluorescent chasuble and was not equipped with a lighting or reflective device on his bike.
Placed in custody at the Villeparisis police station, the truck driver would be very shocked and would have benefited from a psychological consultation.
Two-wheeler accidents that follow one another
This is not the first time, unfortunately, that two-wheelers have been the victims of accidents in Seine-et-Marne.
Already last Thursday, a twelve-year-old boy was run over in Poigny by a motorist who was traveling at least 110 km / h behind the wheel of his Citroën Saxo.
He is now out of danger but on the day of the accident, he had been transported with a vital prognosis.
If the driver's blood alcohol level and drug tests were negative, he was driving without a driver's license and without insurance according to the police.
