West Kowloon M+ Museum will officially open six thematic exhibitions on November 12, free for Hong Kong residents in the first year

The West Kowloon Cultural District announced today (8th) that the M+ Museum will officially open on November 12 and will display 1,500 M+ collections in 33 exhibition halls and exhibition spaces. The opening exhibition of the museum consists of six thematic exhibitions


The West Kowloon Cultural District announced today (8th) that the M+ Museum will officially open on November 12 and will display 1,500 M+ collections in 33 exhibition halls and exhibition spaces.

The opening exhibition of the museum consists of six thematic exhibitions, including the "M+ Sigg Collection" exhibition.

Within 12 months from the opening date of the museum, Hong Kong residents with a valid ID can visit the exhibition in the M+ exhibition hall for free.

The M+ Museum will officially open on November 12th. The museum’s exhibition space is about 17,000 square meters, including 33 exhibition halls and other exhibition spaces.

The opening exhibition will be composed of 6 thematic exhibitions, showing the M+ collection series collected from 2012.

6 thematic exhibitions include "Hong Kong: Here and Beyond", "M+ Sigg Collection: From Revolution to Globalization", "Objects‧Space‧Interaction", "Individual‧Source‧Expression", "Museum Dream", and British Sculpture Anthony Gormley’s work "Anthony Gormley: The Land of Asia".

In addition to the main exhibition hall, M+ will exhibit a series of works in different public spaces of the building (such as M+ curtain wall, large steps, studio, rooftop garden).

The south exterior wall of the M+ building also has a multi-purpose LED display system for displaying various contents related to M+.

Free admission for Hong Kong residents, special celebrations for the first three weeks

M+ will host a series of special celebrations in the first three weekends after opening. There will be live performances, lectures, guided tours, workshops, screenings and online activities.

The opening hours of the museum are from 10 am to 6 pm from Tuesday to Sunday, and it is extended to 10 pm on Fridays.

Within 12 months from the opening date of the museum, Hong Kong residents with a valid ID can visit the exhibition in the M+ exhibition hall for free.

The regular admission fee is 120 yuan.
