INFOGRAPHIC - Travel restrictions for the unvaccinated are tightening as the Covid-19 vaccination rate increases. Traveling in Europe with the health pass remains the safest option. However, opportunities are multiplying in more distant destinations.

Health pass, opening of borders ... The context

  • In an uncertain health context, travel is governed both by the rules issued by France for departure and return, and those of the country of destination.

  • Travel in Europe is now possible to almost all countries for the French, vaccinated or not.

  • Beyond the Old Continent, only fully vaccinated people can travel for tourist reasons.

The government no longer imposes travel restrictions on fully vaccinated residents.

Few countries, however, accept foreign tourists.

  • Vaccine, PCR test or negative antigen ... Restrictions remain the rule.

In Europe, the health pass is compulsory or required to travel and sometimes for activities (restaurants, museums, bars, etc.).

It is accepted in mobile (TousAntiCovid) and paper versions.

Departure and return to France: the rules if you are vaccinated or not, depending on whether the country is classified as green, orange or red

The French government classifies the countries of the world in three colors, green, orange and red, according to the level of circulation of the virus and the presence of variants on the spot.

The list changes every two weeks.

Each color corresponds to a level of

restrictions on departure and return.

These restrictions apply only to the unvaccinated, henceforth

: they can only travel for tourist reasons to "green" countries.

They need a compelling reason for orange or red destinations.

All explanations, restrictions and the updated country list can be found in this article.

On return, non-unvaccinated persons over 12 years of age must present a negative PCR or antigen test of less than 72 hours upon boarding.

This period increases to 24 hours from six countries still considered "at risk" at the beginning of September: Spain, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, Malta and the Netherlands.

The tests are paid abroad, with sometimes different price levels
