Dietramszell is in mourning: The former, very popular pastor Hans Koller died at the age of 84.

For many years he was the good shepherd of the church.

Dietramszell

- For almost 30 years, from 1984 until his retirement in 2013, Koller was head of the parish association.

In 2014 he celebrated his golden jubilee as a priest in the Dietramszell parish church.

“I grew up with him, he just belonged to the village,” says the parish association chairwoman Christine Lindmeyr.

With this she speaks from the soul of many Dietramszell people.

Pastor Hans Koller died at the age of 84: "The good shepherd of the community"

“Our pastor was always someone who opened the windows.

He tried to ensure that the faithful could choose freely.

For him, formalities and regulations had to be followed by the people and not the other way around, ”said the mayor at the time, Leni Gröbmaier, characterizing the good shepherd of the community on this occasion.

A philanthropist, down-to-earth and uncomplicated, confirm Lindmeyr, the current pastor Thomas Neuberger and Koller's long-time companion Hans Kanzler from the Association for the Preservation of the Leonhardikirche.

Chancellor remembers that Koller had always wanted a representative carriage for the clergy and the community for the Leonhardifahrt.

After the money was not so easy with the latter and there was no need to hope for financial subsidies, Koller asked in 2009: “What does a carriage cost now?” A year later, a new vehicle was ordered, paid for by the pastor.

Pastor Hans Koller: Two passions - pastoral care and mountaineering

Born on May 4, 1937 in Straubing, Koller was ordained a priest in Freising in 1964.

After working in Munich and Nuremberg, he came to Dietramszell in 1984.

Here he was able to combine his two great passions: pastoral care and mountaineering.

On his days off, he was drawn to the peaks in the area.

After leaving the service and moving out of the rectory, he decided to live in an apartment in the community with a view of the Zugspitze.

When hiking was no longer possible due to his age, he found solace in classical music.

The longtime sexton Agnes Scheffzcyk stayed in contact with her former superior until the end.

“He was a very good boss,” she says.

His sister and her children in the Upper Palatinate also mourn Koller.
