Soccer is the passion of crowds and their beloved figures.
Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Diego Maradona and Pelé undoubtedly stood out above the rest.
Along these lines, a Mathematics expert from the
University of Oxford
designed an
algorithm that determines who is the best in history
.
The specialist in question is called
Tom Crawford
and he is a professor at the English university.
Based on numerically measurable and objective criteria, I design a formula to put an end to the eternal debate on this issue, reports the newspaper
Marca
.
The criteria of the mathematician
The data model is based on a
Top 10 of the best footballers of all time
selected according to certain parameters established by Crawford.
These criteria, in turn, are compared with each other according to their respective statistics on the field of play.
To be eligible for the select list, players had to have
the highest scores in seven categories.
Among those that were taken into account are:
trophies obtained with their teams, international cups, annotations for their team, goals in international competitions, number of golden balls (do, as an exclusive requirement) and personal records.

But there is also a special item called
"Z factors"
, which includes the number of seasons in which the player has had a
significantly higher impact on the court than the rest of his teammates
in the last five seasons.
Cristiano Ronaldo, the winner
To achieve greater objectivity, they explain, the model used a point
system for each of the categories
, considering the level of difficulty of each of the achievements and qualifying those who have achieved triumphs in various leagues higher. countries.

In this way, the brand new Manchester United reinforcement, the Portuguese
Cristiano Ronaldo was at the top, with a slight advantage over Lionel Messi
, the Argentine star and new figure of PSG,
This is how the Top 10 was
Among the names that appear in the ranking prepared by the mathematicians are the aforementioned Argentine cracks, the Portuguese and King Pelé.
But in addition, other South American footballers appear, and figures from France and the Netherlands, among others.
Pelé was in third place on the podium, behind CR7 and Leo Messi.
Professor Crawford's final list with his respective score was as follows:
1. Cristiano Ronaldo (100)
2. Lionel Messi (94)
3. Pele (85)
4. Ferenc Puskás (57)
5. Ronaldo Nazario (52)
6. Marco van Basten (44)
7. Alfredo Di Stefano (37)
8. Michel Platini (33)
9. Diego A. Maradona (31)
10. Johan Cruyff (30)
