Suez Canal briefly interrupted after a ship ran aground

Navigation through the Suez Canal was briefly suspended Thursday after a ship ran aground.

However, during that incident, traffic was able to resume via the waterway from an alternate route, the Suez Canal Authority [SCA] said in a statement.

The ship is reportedly a Panamanian-flagged Coral Crystal and had been refloated, SCA added.

Maritime traffic has resumed.

Today's incident comes nearly six months after Ever Given, one of the largest container ships ever built, was stuck in the canal for six days in March.
