The Kühnhausen paradise is taking shape.

Even if it is not yet possible to bathe, the work on the renewal of the pond has largely been completed.

Kühnhausen / Kranzberg

- Originally the pond was supposed to be renovated for a few hundred thousand euros - meanwhile, the cost of renovation is 1.3 million euros.

During the planning, there was a greater need for renovations and during the measure contaminated sites then put the mayor and the municipal council in a state of shock.

The contaminated material had to be sorted in heaps and driven far away.

The disposal costs alone, at 450,000 euros, are above the original plan value for the entire measure.

An appealing little lake promenade

In the meantime the pavement is finished and Kühnhausen has got an attractive little lake promenade.

This includes a modern bus stop and a place of honor for the memorial stone, which commemorates the first written mention of the place in 895.

Only the bathing paradise in the center of the village has to be imagined with a little imagination.

At the moment you can still see a larger puddle because the bathing jetty has to be completed in the coming weeks and months.

In addition, the landscape work around the pond will be carried out in autumn.

With the completion of the footbridge, the pond can then be completely filled with water.

No other small town in the district is likely to offer such a high level of recreational value in its center as Kühnhausen.

The municipality of Kranzberg has to bear just under a third of the costs

Exactly this special feature was lucky for the community, because the Office for Rural Development contributes 69 percent of the costs.

The grant was capped at 1.3 million euros, which we will now certainly keep.

The municipality of Kranzberg only has to spend almost a third of the costs for a beautiful pond, which enhances the village and serves as a water retention.

The most recent natural disasters in particular have shown that water buffers are becoming increasingly important.

And if they improve people's quality of life, then that is a multiple win-win situation.
