The Baiernrain fire brigade has been there for 150 years when the going gets tough.

That is to be celebrated - with a ceremony this Sunday.

Baiernrain

- It was no big secret that the Voluntary Fire Brigade (FF) Baiernrain is 150 years old this year.

However, due to the constantly changing Corona rules, it was not clear until recently in which form the members who are responsible for all Dietramszell districts between Erlach and Fraßhausen and between Kolbing and Thalham in the northeast of the municipality may celebrate.

"We were the first to cancel the originally planned multi-day celebration with a beer tent and all the trimmings," says the newly elected First Chairman Jakob Pertold junior in 2019. "But now we can celebrate the 150th birthday of our service at least reasonably appropriately on Sunday, together with the other six local fire brigades in Zell and of course all of the people from Baiernrain."

The Wehr's chronicler also had problems.

When exactly was the FF Baiernrain founded?

Our own records do not begin until 1896. However, a reference to the fire brigade in the chronicle of the former municipality of Baiernrain dates back to 1871. Thus, this year is assumed to be the birth of the FF Baiernrain.

Founding members from 1896 are Dionys Gamperl, Hans Brückner, Hans Fink, Rupert Geer, Balthasar Gröbner and Michael Andrä.

The latter was the first director of the new defense.

In the early days there were major fires to be put out almost every two years.

When the Otterfinger Gasthof Moser fell victim to a devastating fire in 1898, the work of the weir is historically guaranteed.

In 1900 she moved out to the fire of the Hansen farmer in Reichertshausen.

In 1906 she was asked by the Wieden farmers.

Even if the association fell victim to the general alignment of all associations in the Third Reich - the fire brigade itself survived the war.

This is evidenced by a deployment in July 1944, when the Baiernrain fire fighting force had to move out.

After a bomb attack on Arget and Lochhofen, six properties burned there at the same time.

Seven men tried to put out the fire at the Lönnerhof in Arget.

The fire brigade association was re-established in 1946 under the first chairman Hans Thalhammer, who was replaced by Josef Eiler only one year later.

Equipment from the early years is still preserved today.

For example the hand-spraying trolley, which is now on display in the museum of the fire brigade school in Regensburg.

A smaller hand syringe from 1901 has found its place of honor in today's fire brigade equipment house on Lehrer-Vogl-Weg.

The chronicle also mentions the great celebration of the 100th birthday in 1971, which was celebrated together with the flag consecration of today's standard.

Even then, Andreas Böhm was in command.

He held the office for 30 years.

For this he was honored with the title of honorary commander of the Baiernrainer Wehr.

The festival program on September 12th

The Baiernrain volunteer fire brigade is celebrating its 150th anniversary this Sunday, September 12th. The festival program:

9 am:

Reception of the visiting clubs with a morning pint and the Baiernrain brass band at the fire brigade equipment house;

9.50 a.m .:

The Lehrer-Vogl-Weg is completely closed all day along the fire brigade tool house.

The fact that the volunteer firefighters can also do their handicrafts was demonstrated above all in 1985 with the renovation of the building on Lehrer-Vogl-Weg.

In 3600 hours of voluntary work, they adapted the original seat of the former municipality of Baiernrain to the needs of the military at the time.

The next major construction project was due in 2017.

Another fire brigade tool shed was built there.

It had become necessary because otherwise there would have been no space for the new fire engine, which is due to be delivered in March of next year.

“Only the material was paid for.

We all carried out the work ourselves, ”says Pertold.
