(ANSA) - ROME, SEPTEMBER 09 - Energy consumption and CO2 emissions in Italy increased sharply in the second quarter of the year.
Climate factors and the increase in GDP (+ 17%) and in industrial production (+ 34%) have determined both an increase in energy demand of 24% and, in parallel, in carbon dioxide emissions (+ 25%), with repercussions on the energy transition in our country. This is what emerges from the quarterly analysis of Enea's national energy system, which also estimates a trend growth in energy demand and emissions of around 6% for the whole of 2021, in line with the main economic drivers.
