Füssen - The Working Group of Social Democratic Women (ASF) Füssen-Schwangau discussed the city's finances and the situation of cyclists and pedestrians at their most recent meeting. They are concerned about the district office's demand for a consolidation concept. "That was to be expected in view of the immense planned expenditures, but now it is not allowed to save more in the social area" demand the local SPD women.
As reported several times in the district messenger, the district office will no longer approve the budget without a consolidation concept. "This situation is more than serious," say the ARSP women. They emphasize that now, however, under no circumstances should social institutions and educational offers suffer in the first place. "Precisely because people have had to accept enormous restrictions because of the Corona restrictions on educational offers such as in the family support centers, in adult education centers and public libraries and also in childcare facilities and schools, we urgently need good and diverse educational and support offers," says ARSP chairwoman Brigitte Protschka.
The ASF regards the discussed sale of the old district office as a bad option to make money.
In their opinion, this is a property in a prime location.
With the medical center in it, it is also an important facility in terms of health care for the people of Füssen.
According to the SPD women, this should be worth at least as much as a new cycle path in Hopfen, for which 2.8 million euros will be charged.
Even if 1.4 million euros have already been invested so far and another 700,000 could be due, that is only 2.1 million - half a million less than the bike path costs, the ASF is indignant.
In addition, a rental property pays for itself in contrast to a cycle path, which does not generate any income.
Good togetherness
In addition, the social democratic women are convinced that when planning traffic, the goal must be good cooperation between all road users. This is not just about cars and intelligent traffic lights. The same attention should be paid to cyclists and pedestrians - especially since motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are increasingly clashing. Finally, the discussion on the Lechuferweg was inflamed. There is always trouble between pedestrians and cyclists. "It is now really dangerous to walk there with small children", confirmed the deputy ARSP chairwoman Claudia Schreiner as the mother of three children.
The ASF women therefore suggest a continuous bicycle road through the Weidach. The goal must be, in addition to the already planned bike path, to get directly from the Lechuferweg from the level of the Lech weir past the skater area through the Weidach up to the confluence with the B16 at the cemetery. This also makes sense with a view to the new daycare center. The ASF assumes that parents will increasingly bring their children to daycare by bike. The ARSP women will therefore instruct the SPD parliamentary group to submit a corresponding application to the city council.
